I'm nearly ready to smash my foot trying to figure this out...though I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but I'm simply not finding it!

I have a Mac Mini Server running Snow Leopard Server on it. I have the strangest issues as it sometimes works perfectly, and then 10 minutes later it doesn't work at all. Right now if I go into Server Admin it shows "Available Servers (0)" rather than 20 minutes ago when it showed 1 available which is the server. I can't find anywhere that would point to it being unavailable.

This seems to be so strange as I can point my iCal to a calDEV account on the server and have it work, go get lunch and come back to a computer full of errors saying that the server is no longer available.

Please tell me I'm missing something!!!!

I've not used snow leopard server yet, but what you describe sounds a lot like a problem that plagued 10.5 server - Server admin, when opened, would not recognised the server it was installed on for a few minutes after opening the app. It was necessary to keep trying to add a new server (any of the server names will do, mail.mywebsite.com, myserver.local or 127.0.0.1 (the IP address that points to the machine you're currently using). Can you still 'add server' with a manual address?

Only the services didn't go down while this was happening... iCal though was almost completely unusable on 10.5 server, there was far too much room for a change in set up to bring the whole ical service down.

Personally (lacking much knowledge of your problem) I would suggest working from a fresh install. Once it stops running smoothly, that's generally easier than a fix. Just look up the set up on the apple discussion forums and google and follow step by step instructions next time...

Agreed

I think that's what I'll do is a fresh install...I surely hope that this doesn't continue to plague me! Thanks!!!
