Server-side Siri changes?

I consistently ask Siri (on phone and Watch) what the difference is between two dates, "Hey Siri, what's the difference between August 10 2015 and July 6 1974" and it used to give me an exact answer to the year, month and day. I believe it used to use Wolfram-Alpha. Just recently it stopped working and now does the web search thing.


This is annoying, since I know it works and works well and now takes away something Siri used to do. I am not sure if it coincided with the latest OS updates or not.

Are you having similar results, thoughts?

So I can know the age of a person on a certain date, without having to manually do the math or manually look it up by hand.

Age is just a number

Can't you just ask 'what's 2015 minus 1974?'

Oh, I see.

I thought you wanted to know the difference between those dates historically, as in what the weather was like and what sort of major events happened on those dates. Thought that was a pretty weird thing to do.

I've always asked such questions in a slightly different way: "How many days are there between 10th of August 2015 and 6th of July 1974", which triggers WolframAlpha and gives a break down in days, years, months, etc. Interestingly, if I ask it the same question but with the dates in the form "August 10 2015" it doesn't understand the question.

They seem to regularly make adjustments to Siri and while I'm sure it's to improve it overall, I've definitely hit issues like this where the same question asked a few days later fails to work.

I mostly use date difference questions when I'm going to travel, to determine how many days I'll be away and to be sure that I'm within visa requirements regarding length of stay (90 days being a common length of time I have to make sure my departure/arrival interval doesn't exceed).

Thanks for the input! I'll try doing it your way and see if it works that way.

For my work I sometimes have to know how old someone was on a date to the day and it is very helpful to just ask your personal virtual assistant!

Ok, so I tried your way and it does give the days. Have you found any way for it to give the break down in years? When I ask about years in your format it gives a web search.
