I just got back from a Mac store at my mall (and boy was it CROWDED). It was my first time messing with a mac and I loved it. I loved everything about it but one tiny thing. Whenever I would open an application, it would never open all the way to where it would take up the whole screen. And I would click on the expand button but all it would do is get slightly bigger. When I get my iBook will there be a way for me to set the default window size to where it takes up the whole screen when i open an app?

there is no way to make the window take up the entire screen like it does in windows at a click of a button. Even though many people complain about it and would like that feature to be added. The OS choose what it thinks is bets for the app.

That's the nifty part. It seems like quite a few switchers feel the same frustration at first, but end up loving the smaller windows. It's a lot more efficient as far as multi-tasking and whatnot when you can see multiple windows (and let's not forget Exposé, which allows for all sorts of window manipulations).

One fun thing I learned is to press shift+click green expand button. It'll make that window larger.

I would like apple to add in the full screen at a click because some times you just want to jump to full screen. Biggest thing for me wanting to jump to full screen is in some folders where I just have a ton of stuff, IM convos, when I dont want to be jumping around (less distractions). Some web pages. But for most stuff the OSX best guess size works great

Have the green button go bettween user set size. What the OS thinks should be the max size and full screen (or just add a 4th button to it). That way you get the best of both worlds.

I agree it would be a great option. For the most part I don't mind the smaller windows, until I *just* miss the scroll bar in one app (usually MSWord strangely enough), and suddenly I'm in another because I missed it. Many programs take up the whole screen (Safari does it quite nicely now), but not enough of them do.
