My mothers Intel mini can be set to start everyday but we cannot specify a time. Is this a restriction with the mini or are we doing something wrong. My MacBook can do this I have it starting a 7-am every morning.

Weird. Is the time greyed out or not even there? Maybe take a screenshot of the Schedule pop up and it might give us a hint as to what's happening. :)

yeah it is strange. You can select to wake and shutdown like it is shown but you can not chose a time.

Weird. Has the same problem popped up in any other dialogue boxes or areas of the OS? Are there any theme changers installed? Are there any font customisations or any universal access preferences selected? :)

With my mother you never no? thanks for the tips I will have a look around.

Okay, as a start make sure her Universal Access pane looks something like this:

Next up, Resolve Duplicates in the Edit menu of Font Book. After this, look through the Applications folder for any hints as to whether a theme changer is installed. :)
