i have tried a few online tricks to no avail to customise my ringtones. Last i tried was a software called Xiliphone , it crashed my PC and had to be completely removed.

Has anyone done this successfully on their iPhone 6 or 6+? Please do share tips...thnx

Easiest way is to chop your mp3 file to desired length but I suggest to 30 seconds only using any audio editing tools, then save it as .m4r then import in iTunes, the next time you sync your iphone the ringtone will then be available

Apple's GarageBand works great for it. I edit them on my iMac in GarageBand, export them to iTunes, then sync them to the phone - just as macbookprodad said.
