I am trying to do a screenshare in zoom.

every time I start to initiate a screenshare, I get a message steering me to the system preferences.

I get the screen below, but as you can see, there is NOT an option to add another app into this list!

does anyone know HOW I would do that, tell the system to give permission for ZOOM to access the screen?

grateful for any feedback ... let me know! Help!

The ZOOM needs to ask the system to allow screen recording. Try deleting all ZOOM preferences and reinstalling it.

update: I now believe that this is a bug of the MAC OS CATALINA

* using my older MacBook Air, running MOJAVE, I WAS able to successfully screenshare.

* and I was doing so with a friend who was running an iMac that was also using a MOJAVE system.

Conclusion: this works with MOJAVE but not CATALINA.

Help! can anyone figure out a way to make it work using CATALINA?

THANKS AGAIN!

I just installed and when I was prompted I saw Zoom and after quitting and re opening Zoom I was able to share my screen. I am on Catalina so I don't think it is Catalina. I would suggest actually deleting the files (going into system/user library folder and deleting files).

https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362983-How-to-uninstall-Zoom-on-a-Mac-

rats again. I deleted again (this time using the built in uninstall option WITHIN the app) and installed for the third time today. no, I still get the same message. still unable to tell the system to allow ZOOM to do whatever it needs to do, and yet it worked without a hitch on MOJAVE. thanks for the input!

After the security prompt, did you restart the zoom app?
Could be a bug in Catalina. I'm running the latest 10.15.4 beta and can share the screen without issues after the security prompt.

first I get the security prompt (screen share below), then it takes me to system preferences, BUT since it seems to be impossible to make any changes to the preferences, nothing happens. I still CAN not screen share.

so I'm still stuck! was hoping to do this on Sunday afternoon, but I don't know if I can solve this by then!

continued thanks for your input!

PS: I am running 10.15 - should I try and run the BETA 10.15.4? - how would I go about obtaining that? thanks again!

Reset the security database, in Terminal run:

tccutil reset All

to reset everything, or

tccutil reset Zoom

to reset only Zoom (maybe, if that's the actual app name).

thank you! will try!

(the full name of the app seems to be "zoom.us" , so I will try that ...)

PS: is there any drawback to resetting the entire security database? does that mean I will have re-set security preferences for every single APP going forward? thank you again!

okay, I tried and failed! rats! here's the transcript:

Last login: Fri Mar 20 06:49:33 on console

The default interactive shell is now zsh.

To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`.

Wills-Mac-mini:~ willfriedwald$ tccutil reset zoom.us

tccutil: Failed to reset database

(WF : I also tried with just plain "Zoom" & "zoom" - same result!)

Wills-Mac-mini:~ willfriedwald$ tccutil reset Zoom

tccutil: Failed to reset database

Wills-Mac-mini:~ willfriedwald$

will try the RESET ALL, but I wanted to make sure that it was safe, first!

okay, finally got it!

I believe it was connected to CATALINA. There was a system upgrade waiting for me, up to 10.15.3 - and once that was installed, then I DID get the option (in security pref's) to enable ZOOM to do screen recording. So yes! It now seems to be working! thank you!

glad you got it sorted out. Zoom is a great product. I just wish some of these meeting apps had Apple TV/streamer Apps though I get why (you cannot connect a camera to it). Probably a very small market since most who deploy Zoom or similar products use Enterprise grade cameras and use iPads as controllers.

If anyone stumbles across this in the future it looks like the command is below.

sudo tccutil reset Camera us.zoom.xos

Camera being the item within privacy you are trying to change. For example to do the Microphone it would be "sudo tccutil reset Microphone us.zoom.xos."

Also the bundle identifer my vary by language. In order to get the proper name for your app you must right click on the app (in this case zoom) in Applications folder in Finder and click "Show Package Contents" and with in there you will find the info.plist. Open that in a text editor and look for the string value under "CFBundleIdentifier". That is the name of the package to modify.

This will reset the setting so that it will prompt the next time you open your app (in this case zoom) and try to use your camera (or microphone).

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks Alan - I see that that script works very well for the camera. My problem is with screen share ("Screen Recording" in Catalina preferences just says that apps will appear there and never has Zoom or anything else in there. Any idea on how I can modify that script for the "Screen Recording" aspect? Thanks!

Super helpful! I had been using an external camera for a while and could not for the life of me sort out how to go back to using the built-in MBP one.

Thank you.

As a sidebar to this, Zoom has recently made it easier to access / create a meeting via their site on the net, rather than the need to install their app. So more like Google Team. And less opportunity for a product with a dodgy security history to embed in your computer.

MacBook Pro 5.1, running 10.15.5 (19F101). I tried installing and using the Zoom app, but applications won't show up under the proper Camera and Microphone sections to use them.

After extensive searching, apparently SIP MUST be enabled in order to work properly. Per:

I attempted to boot up in Recovery Mode and then use Terminal to 'csrutil enable' SIP mode, but it came back with an error saying that it's current state is unknown and can only do that from Recovery (which I was already under).

I now have to somehow turn SIP back on in order to urgently use Zoom. How am I able to do this?

------------

I had tried to tccutil reset previously and I thought it worked to get Zoom get the Camera and Microphone section, but today I had a video call that Chrome needed access, but it wouldn't show up in the menus. I tried the reset again, but it doesn't work.
