Setting up a new SR MBP: can I use Transfer?

In setting up my new MBP, I used the Transfer assistant to start off by copying my working environment from my old G4 iMac. It worked perfectly, saving me a lot of setup time. Now I can concentrate on changing the environment as desired on the new machine.

But I have a basic question: for applications that were installed on the old machine from universal binaries, such as Photoshop CS3, do I have to reinstall to avoid having it emulate the previously installed PPC code, or does it automatically start using the "Intel side" when it runs on the MBP?

Most of the times, it will install both architectures. You can check by gegtting info in the Finder on a particular application. If it says PPC it's running in Rosetta, if it says Universal, then it's Intel as well.

It will automatically run Intel native, unless you specifically set it to startup using Rosetta (option in Get Info for app).
