Hi, i never had a cellular watch before this year. When setting up my new iPhone, any different steps to take? I will usually do the iPhone to iPhone transfer. I also forget, do I first have to unpair from the old phone or does the watch automatically get transferred to the new while the data transfer is occurring? Thanks!

When you wipe/unpair the watch, it will ask you if you want to erase the watch and keep the cellular plan on it; say yes and it will move across easily to a new phone with the data plan intact.

If you say 'no' you may have to set it up again with a painful call to your network provider :)

That’s what I did. Unpaired the watch with the watch app on my phone. Now waiting for my new phone to arrive and will place the Sim card into it from my old phone then, pair my watch again. I hope everything goes smoothly or I will make a call to Verizon

Good luck - it's always worked seamlessly for me. I've had to unpair my watch a few times b/c of the lost workout data issue recently and haven't had to touch the data plan on it. Got my phone coming in the next hour - so will be going through the same thing and it's not causing me any undue anxiety...

Thanks....so do I have to unpair the watch before I start the phone transfer process? Or is it all part of the data transfer process?

I personally always unpair the watch and set it up from scratch on a new phone. I also always set up a new phone as a new phone rather than from backup - just as a bit of a spring clean. you can unpair the watch after you start the phone transfer process, but I think you'll need to unpair it at some point to set it up on a new phone (if you don't do it from the old phone before you wipe the phone, you'll have to do it from the watch).

I don't believe the watch will automatically pair with the new phone without being unpaired from the old phone first.

No, it will ask if you want to move your watch as part of the data transfer process. Mine's now synched to my 12 Pro without having to do anything else.

Thanks, this worked! Nothing additional to do, its part of the transfer process.
