Advice on settings for Sims 3. My wife plays it a lot, using the archtecture features and builds towns. We came from a similar system from Dell and it ran really smooth. I dont know what settings to put this on to make it smooth as its studdery. I assumed even though the mac isnt a gaming machine per se with theis i7 and 8gb of ram it should handle a non-hardcore game like sims 3 more smoothly. It could be my settings. If anyone here plays it and could make some suggestions I would appreciate it. Boy it gets hot too when we play it.

We tried it on native screen resolution and it was way too choppy. Then we set it to 1080p and its a little better but thats where were at now.

Well, I turn all the shadows/lighting options to minimum, high detail lots on minimum, and edge smoothing off and that gets things running very smoothly on my macbook pro - which is quite a bit less powerful than your iMac so you might be able to adjust those settings a bit higher.
