Setup AppleTV through my Yamaha rcvr to the TV

I recently tried to setup my AppleTV by hooking up the hdmi cord from the appletv to the appropriate av4 hdmi slot on the back of my Yamaha recvr. The recvr is networked (wired) to the Gateway. The tv is connected to recvr via component wires. That shouldn't matter right?!

That depends on your receiver. Some models are not able to convert between HDMI and Component. You might want to check your owner's manual for answers. With my older receiver I was able to use the HDMI directly to the TV and the sound from the ATV through optical to my receiver. It was a pain but it worked perfectly.

Well my new BluRay just required a network cord to the Gateway and (whit,yellow,red) from BluRay to recvr. I figured it would be the same with the appletv but that I didn't need the network cord bcuz its wireless.

It's a new Yamaha recvr. Has plenty of hdmi slots. So is the question, like u pointed out, Does the recvr take the info from the appletv(via hdmi) and send it component to tv?
The recvr takes the bluray info(via wht/yellow/red cords) and sends successfully to tv(via component).

You've got to be kidding me... right? If you are connecting your Blu-Ray player to your receiver via the composite Yellow, Red, and White connections you are missing out on a lot of quality. If you are in fact using the Yellow, Red and White connections just about every single receiver can "Upconvert" that analog signal to a higher component (typically Green, Red, and Blue connections). It is very slim chance that your receiver will "Down Convert" a purely digital signal into an analog signal that Component is.

Does your TV not have any HDMI Connections? Is that why you are using component from your receiver to you TV? Please explain your entire setup... all components that are connected to your receiver and TV...
