1. Content must be listed in iTunes to stream to the Apple TV.

2. Yes, 802.11n

3. You are renting the content. You can watch the show as many times as you want within the rental period (which I believe is 48 hours), after which, the file expires and is deleted automatically.

4. Apple TV does not have a browser.

5. No.

6. Yes.

More questions! Thought I'd tack them onto this thread. We aren't expecting apple tv 3 until september, right?

Also, I can send almost any movie from my Mac to my iPad or iPhone and then send it to apple tv with AirPlay (regardless of the file format), right?

For the Keyboard you can use the remote app with your Iphone, Ipad, Ipod device. If you have a Blutooth keyboard attached to one of those devices it should work with the remote app and the ATV2.

However the Remote app only works once it is set up on your Network not straight out of the box, Brand new you need to use the Std remote apple ships.

4. Apple TV does not have a browser. ( it does if you add ATV flash black after jailbreaking)

The file formats the :apple:TV can play are listed on the Tech Specs page for the :apple:TV, under the heading "Video Formats". The files have to be in a compatible format and have to be in your iTunes library. In addition, for streaming to work you have to have your computer on (connected to the network) with iTunes running.

It's doubtful there will be an ATV3 in September.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Cool! how about the second question? can I air video to my iPhone/iPad and then AirPlay to the tv?

Yes with the airvideo app you can send almost any format to the ATV via airplay.

You need the latest beta of the server software running on your mac/pc.

Officially, the aTV2 plays 720p files up to 30fps. Codec support is h264 under the m4p/m4v/mov containers.

In practice, the aTV2 can play 1080p files. I've found that files up to about 5 Mbps are OK. Any higher, and you get frame drops.

Also, the files don't have to loaded into iTunes. You can run AirFlick and AirPlay Server on your MB Pro and stream to the aTV2. No hacks necessary.

So why do you guys think the ATV will not be updated soon? I was thinking they would want to update it with the A5 so that it can game better (I figure 3rd party apps are coming) and output 1080p. I know iTunes isn't serving up 1080p video right now, but maybe they'll start to soon?
