1. Yes, XP does not need to be installed beforehand.

2. Yes. I used Toast. I'm sure you could use DiskUtility too. I think you could just open the disk image in DiskUtility then click burn, but someone else should probably confirm that for me.

3. It should be the very first FAT32 partition that is 200 MB in size.

4. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/208299/ (both options in this thread should work. I used the second, more complicated one that doesn't require you to completely erase the drive and it worked)

5. Some of the drivers that come with it should work. Then you'll have to connect via ethernet and go to Windows Update to get the rest of the drivers to automatically install, including the wireless driver. If you don't have a way to connect to the internet besides wireless, then you can use the Boot Camp drivers disk, but you'll have to extract them and install the drivers manually. Directions here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/207908/

6. No idea. Someone else will have to answer.

7. You'll probably need more. I think I heard Vista needs like 7-9 GB, and 13 GB is the absolute minimum for the partition (so that's 4-6 GB necessary free space). 20 GB sounds more safe.

Just so you know, Vista ain't that great. I guess if you need Windows and will be in it for a bit, then it's better than XP. But I installed it to play around a little and got bored really quickly. Nothing really that special IMO. I'd back up your entire OSX system if possible just to be safe too.

You'll have to repartition the drive to erase everything, but yes. Like I said, there's also another way to do it without having to repartition and reinstall OSX, but both should work. I did the one where you don't have to reinstall. Basically, it rebuilds the EFI partition you erased so you can use Boot Camp to erase the Windows partition. If you did this, you should still back up your OSX parition just in case, but it saves you an hour of reinstalling.

But again, to answer your question, that should work as well. It's the more drastic but also more simple solution.
