Let me just give all the details because I have no idea what the problem could be.

A couple of days ago, I was fixing up brothers Windows Vista pc. I reformatted my iPod so I could back up some of his files. After transferring a couple of files, everything froze up and just hung there. I restart the computer and look at the iPod. It said that I had a 280 gb corrupted file on there, my iPod only holds 80 gb. I reformat everything and stop worrying about the backups.

Now I try to plug my iPod back into my Macbook Pro and everything sort of freezes up. It doesn't show up in iTunes nor does it show up on my desktop. It says it's connected, but I can't eject it. If I unplug the USB cable, a folder appears on my desktop labeled "IPOD".

I've tried manually restarting it and unfortunately I have the same problems plugging it into a Windows PC. I'm also unable to reset the firmware. I've tried opening "Disk Utility" and it doesn't show up there either.

Any thoughts?

Make an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar in your area if it is still under warranty. Otherwise, it may be time to buy a new one.
