Much greener pastures
Does anybody remember the famous episode of WKRP in Cincinnati where station manager Walter Carlson arranged a Thanksgiving publicity stunt...the dropping of live turkeys over the city from a helicopter? And the resultant, uh, horrible mess that followed? The capper was Carlson's stunned line: "As God is my witness...I thought turkeys could fly!"

Well...

NEWARK, N.J. --Maybe they knew what was coming. Two dozen live turkeys bound for Thanksgiving tables fell off a truck Friday on the New Jersey Turnpike, briefly snarling traffic near Newark Liberty International Airport.

"I think we should be investigating this as an escape attempt," said Joseph Orlando, a spokesman for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

The two crates fell as a truck was leaving the highway, and a toll booth supervisor who spotted them contacted authorities. The birds, which survived the fall, will presumably be returned to the trucker -- if the driver notices they're missing, Orlando said.

I thought it was Les who said that.

Was that not one of the greatest sitcoms ever? That was a great episode.

There are some local radio DJs here who do a "frozen turkey toss" contest every Thanksgiving, and it always brings that WKRP stunt to mind. ;)

ahh WKRP coming to life, is there anything sweeter?

There were so many great one liners in that show. My favorite was Les Nessman doing sports a pronouncing Chi Chi Rodrigues Chiy-Chiy Rodwagwayz

Great show...

D

The WKRP turkey episode and the Barney Miller pot brownie episodes are probably two of the funniest half hours ever on TV.

Watch your words my friend. Movie execs may be listening and eagerly waiting to ruin your lighthearted nostalgia with another crappy remake starring nothing but lightweight actors under 30...
Ugh, good advice. The same folks who decided that Jessica Simpson should play Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard" would likely assume that she's a logical choice to play Jennifer in WKRP: The Motion Picture.

Ginger or Maryanne
Bailey or Jennifer
Chrissy or Janet

Doesn't show that way for me, but I shortened it just in case. That help?
