Shaking Icons? Screen locked for a few seconds?

I apologize if this is a newb question, but what happens when the icons on the homepage of my 3G start "shaking"? The screen becomes locked and I can't select anything and it only lasts for about 30 seconds but very weird.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Tap your home button. If you drag them you can arrange your icons.

You entered move icon mode which allows you move the icons around. If you hold an icon for 5 seconds it goes into that mode. Just press the home button to resume regular use.
