I've learned how to drop pins, organize Guides, and share them in Maps on my iOS iPhone. Sharing works great, in that I can share a pinned map with other iPhones. My question is whether this pinned map sharing can be accomplished with Android or Windows. That is, do you NEED an iPhone or Mac to be able to digest these pinned maps? Now, I can always just do a screen shot and share that with anyone, but a screen shot doesn't have navigable pins.

A sea of green
I searched for keywords share apple maps to android and found this:

As posted, it uses Maps on the Mac to get the URL of a shared Apple Maps Guide. That URL can then be given to Android or Windows users (or probably anyone with a capable browser), and they can view the map.

This hinges on making a Guide in Maps, and then making it shared. Both of those can be done on an iPhone or an iPad. At that point, there's probably a way to get the URL directly from the iPhone, but I'm just guessing. I don't know what the gesture to do that would be, but I'd probably try long-press or look for a circled-ellipsis icon (...). There might also be something in your online Apple ID account, if you login to that using a browser and look at what's shared.

I don't know how navigable or interactive this shared Apple Maps Guide will be on those other platforms.

The main app I'm aware of that does maps across multiple OSes and platforms is Google Maps. You can make a custom map in Google Maps and share it using your Google account. It's called "Google My Maps".

Are there any other requirements you need from this shared map with pins? For example, do other users on Android and Windows need to be able to add pins to the map? In other words, is it a collaborative map or just a shared one?

Thanks. I agree that you can export a URL for the map, with pins plotted on it, and any browser should be able to view it, but of course the points on that map are not navigable. That is, you can't click on them and get directions, etc., and you can't get a listing of them. I was just wondering whether there was a maps app on Android or Windows that could make use of a shared Guide listing in the same way that a Mac/IOS app could. By the same token, it would be interesting to know if a set of pins generated with Adroid or Windows could yield a navigable map on iOS/Mac. Now, I don't use Google maps, and to the extent that has that capability, it is probably compliant with many operating systems, and may be usable collaboratively.

I'm not aware of any interoperability between Apple Maps and other map services. It would be nice if I'm wrong about this, but if I were placing bets, I'd bet against it.
