We hear and read mostly complaints about the Air and it's short comings . I like to hear stories from travelers who loves their Air & Airport Express and how well they work together when away from home. Some set-up tips or tricks of the trade would be nice too.

I always have my airport express with me when I travel.
In fact I bought an extre express and leave it packed with my travel kit.
I really hate being tethered. And the express allows me to roam around the room with my air.
The only tip I can think of is to carry an ethernet cable, and of course the ethernet dongle.

I myself cannot imagine traveling without my MBAir/Airport Express combo.
My only other advice (if you travel to different countries) is to also always have a International Travel Adapter Kit handy - saves you the trouble of requesting power socket adapters from the hotel or if you need to be charging at some foreign airport or café.
And a tip some of you might find useful: If you find that you are not connecting to the net despite being connected to your Airport Express, try changing the connection sharing preferences in Airport Utility from "share a public IP address" to "Off (Bridge Mode)" or vice versa, depending on the hotel's connection protocols.

To echo the comments here, I travel the world for business and always bring my Air and the Airport Express.
At hotels, I don't want to be forced to be tethered to the desk when I can relax doing some work in bed, etc.
In short, it is the perfect combination.

AirOort Expresss & MBA
When I travel I encounter 2 kinds of networks. Wireless, and ethernet.
It's been my experience that many hotels, the majority have ethernet networks.
Hence I need the ethernet dongle so I can connect my AirPort Express to their network.

Wouldn't the hotel's ethernet cable itself connect directly to the AirPort Express?
So really no need for a separate ethernet dongle.
