I have a Mac mini on my home network. The Mac mini is a little server. I also have a printer, which can scan directly to a folder on the Mac mini. I shared that folder on my home network. For sharing, I used following steps Creating a shared folder. There are several websites with the same explanation. It works for all the files that are already in the folder: I can access them in finder on my MacBook Pro (I can open them, copy them, delete them,...)

But, when I scan a new file, I can't access it with my MacBook Pr, it says: no permission. But, then when I go to the Mac mini, and I click 'apply to enclosed items' (last step in the tutorial), I can access the new file with my MacBook Pro.

Does anyone know why the 'apply to enclosed items' isn't applied to new items in the folder and how I can solve it?

Thank in advance.

You should list what versionS of Sever and Mac OS You are using?

I think it has to with Mac OS Security! So when the user made the file only that user has excess to that file! He has to remember to charge permissions to Everyone before they share that file! Remember to tell user to change permissions on newer Mac files before sharing them

File sharing permissions won't apply to new content added to that folder without repeating the process, as you found out. I found a discussion on stackexchange about how to work with this using terminal commands. I haven't tested it, but maybe someone else will chime in if they have.

Thank you for the link!

I attached an external drive to the mini, and I could 'ignore the permissions on this volume'. So, I didn't have to change anything to the permissions on the local folder on the Mac. It was very easy, but one has to know it.

Thank you!
