Hi, I've looked at some articles to set up sharing between macs and windows pc, but some issues remain unanswered.

First of all, i want to share 1 folder with movies with anyone.
So far i only know how to share a user's home folder and i have to provide the other users with a username to connect. That's not what i want. I just want to share 1 folder, with anonymous access. Like in windows you can share folders on a folder-per-folder basis and i can allow the "everybody"-group read access.

How do I do this on my new iMac?

Check out this little utility called SharePoints. You can share any folder on your drive.

You could always turn on Personal Web Sharing and move your Movies folder under /Users/[yourname]/Sites, then change /Users/[yourname]/Sites/index.html to reference it.

You don't need to move the folder, but it's easier than tinkering with Apache for most people. Just be sure to make sure the folder is readable by all.
