Hello all,

So I have an apple calendar that I share with my wife. I set up the calendar and "own" it and have shared it with her. I also have an outlook account for my business domain.

What I wish to do is to link the two such that I can see on my business cal when I have personal commitments and it can be seen on the shared apple calendar when I have business commitments.

Is the best way to go about this to share the apple calendar with the outlook calendar and also share the outlook calendar to the apple calendar. If possible I would like the outlook commitments in the apple cal to have no details...just marked as busy and the same for the apple calendar on outlook.

Or I guess the alternative is to have the apple calendar as a calendar that is accessed by the outlook version and the same the other way around. However this would mean that my wife wouldn't be able to see the content

Any thoughts on the most efficient way to do this appreciated

When you share the Outlook calendar with an email address as "Can view when I'm busy" a message is sent to that email address and what you need to use from that email is the URL link in the "Having trouble viewing the calendar? Try adding an Internet calendar and providing this URL" sentence. Add that calendar as a URL under your iCloud account on your Mac and it should appear on all your devices…showing "busy" instead of the info.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you want to "see on my business cal when I have personal commitments and it can be seen on the shared apple calendar when I have business commitments." When my calendar is open I see all my calendars. I don't have to add one to the other.

Since you've already shared your personal calendar with your wife it seems to me all that needs to be done is share the "Can view when I'm busy" URL with your wife.

I'm not sure if you're trying to share an online outlook calendar, or you're using Outlook for managing professional email accounts.

If you have an Office 365 account, I believe the easier way to do this, is to publish your professional calendar (There are instructions in the MS website), and import the URL to your iCal Calendar. Outlook gives you some level of control of what it shown to the published calendar (you can set it to show only free/busy or full details) and when you import the URL, it would show the relevant information to your iCal. So both you and your wife could see the published business calendar to your iCal that will overlap with all the other calendars you have there. Unfortunately the opposite is not possible, you cannot import the iCal account to your online outlook account.

If you're using the Outlook app for managing multiple email accounts, you can do exactly the same for importing outlook calendar to iCal. The opposite is again possible if you publish again your iCal and import it to your Outlook app. I think the latter does not work as flawlessly as expected.

Be aware that the option for publishing your calendar on Outlook account should be activated by the admin. If it is not activated you cannot publish your calendar.

There are 3rd party software that could arrange the import of the calendars if you run into trouble. I personally using the SyncMate that it does a great job for arranging everything for me plus other stuff (Backups and management of cloud storage).
