Sharing files on a network???

To share your hard drive out, go to The Apple Menu in the top left and then select System Preferences
Then select the Sharing System Preference
Then check the box thats says File Sharing (for the Macs), and Windows File Sharing (For the PCs)
You address to the Mac will be your IP/share (ie. 192.168.1.2/username/documents)

Make sure both computers are on the same workgroup. The Mac workgroup name is called workgroup by default. Sometimes the PC is on MSHOME by default.
Also a router can make it a little more difficult, but if both computers are on the internet using the same router, then both computer should be able to see each other.
If you want to be able to share your iTunes Music, on the Mac side you click on the iTunes Menu, then select Preferences, then click on the Sharing section. Then check the box that says share my music. Or, if the music on the PC, check the box that says look for shared music.
In iTunes for Windows, click on Edit, and then click on preferences. Then click on the sharing section, then click on either look for shared music if the music on the Mac, or check Share music if the music is on the PC.
If the router isn't blocking anything, the shared library should appear on the opposite computer.

another problem i found is that if you have sp2 on windows and the firewall on...turn it off...even though i used all the port settings in it, it still was screwing up...just disabling the firewall did the trick...
If you're using XP Home, that may just cause it to randomly not work. Home has some real problems with networking that have caused a lot of aggro in my student house.
If you're using version 10.4 of Tiger, you have to specify in the Sharing panel which accounts you want to be shared. When you first turn it on, no accounts are shared.
