Sharing files over Internet

I have a bunch of users scattered across the country who need to be able to share and review files over the Internet. Basically, they have to dump files into some kind of repository and have other users look over them.

Using OSX Server, what is the best way to go about this? What are my limitations?

I really don't want to use something like SharePoint services for this.

I've developed a web application called DocSpaces (http://www.docspaces.com) that I really need help testing (it's very rough around the edges, and a lot of screens are not nearly as intuitive as they should be). It's a bit like the Windows Explorer, but in a web app.

If you want to test it and provide feedback you can have a lifetime free membership for up to 10GB storage.

The software is stable -- it's based on an enterprise product I wrote about 4 years ago -- it's just the transition from bespopke internal business app to publicly accessible software-as-a-service that's still very much a work in progress.

You could have them sftp to a chrooted environment. There should documents on the net for creating this. sftp is an encrypted version of ftp and a chrooted environment means that anyone accessing this system will be in a restricted jail. This jail should make it hard for someone to breakout and create havoc on the rest of the box.

I use a .Mac account to run my side business with another partner 800 miles away. Always has worked flawlessly. okay, some might balk 99 a year and I also use Dropbox, but the .Mac account is so darned handy and never fails.

I use microsoft's Live Mesh service. It's free, and works great on Mac and Windows!
