My first Mac (15-inch Powerbook G4) came in the mail two days ago and I've been absolutely in love with it from the moment I saw it. I have everything set up through Airport Express (printer works, iTunes works, etc.). All of this works through my old HP laptop, my husband's Dell laptop and my new powerbook. The only problem I'm having is that I would like to share files from my old laptop to my new powerbook. I was able to do this for a few moments (it just came up and was there - I don't know about any settings or anything) but then it went away. I had discovered that it was there when I was in iTunes and saw a folder from my old laptop that I could access and play. But now, under Network, instead of seeing workgroup and my old laptop, I don't see anything. However, if I disable the airport, then turn it back on, I can see the workgroup, etc. for a few seconds before it disappears again. Apparently I must have changed some setting on my powerbook that disabled the file sharing I was originally able to have. I can't see the file in iTunes anymore either. Can someone please help a new mac owner to file share with her old PC in order to move files??? I would really appreciate it!

You airport express might be acting as an additional router. Use the airport admin tool and make sure "Distribute IP Addresses" is unchecked under the Network Tab......

Thank you so much! I searched and searched for the answer and all I could find was networking guides that went through steps I had already done. I knew the answer had to be simpler - and you had it :) Everything is up and running beautifully now...oh how I love my mac :p :)
