Ok, I'm trying to setup a shared Internet connection from my iPhone to USB Ethernet on my laptop then connecting that Ethernet to my AirPort Time Capsule (AirPort from here) WAN port to allow my other devices to connect to the AirPort for additional device connectivity.

I had it working once and messed up the configuration and can't remember what I did.

So the overall topology im looking to do is:

Share iPhone Connection to USB Ethernet on Laptop. Connect that to my AirPort and then allow for the internet to work from the AirPort.

I can successfully share internet from iPhone to laptop just fine but can't get it to provide an IP to the AirPort (other then self-assigned, which doesn't work).

I tried having the airport in Bridge Mode, and NAT/Double NAT but that doesn't seem to work either. I'm willing to try any steps some one suggests. I'm certain it's possible, I just need the correct configuration.

[Edit: for OS and other information]

I currently am using macOS Ventura, iPhone 13 Pro Max (4/5g connection), iOS 16 and AirPort Time Capsule basestation, with the latest firmware.

I have a USB Dock with 2 USB C Ports that provides and ethernet connection. See the attached image for my current internet sharing settings (not turned on)

Thanks in advance to any advice given.

Trying the same thing and I don't know what the issue is. My AirPort Express also seems to freeze up when restarting to update settings. Did you have any luck on your end?

No, I ultimately gave up as my ISP started working again and I no longer have a reason to setup my home network like this... One thought I had though was to connect the mbp to a LAN port instead of the WAN port and see if that would work, never tried it since my ISP started working again.
