Sharing items from desktop

I am having trouble emailing items on my desktop ever since upgrading. In the past I could just right click and share as email but 10.11 doesn't seem to give me this option. What am I missing?
 
I have the option. Have you tried relaunching the Finder or restarting your computer?
 
I did try restarting and also relaunching finder. This seems like a weird glitch. I don't even have email listed under the extensions/share menu.
