Sharing multiple displays with PC and Mac Mini 2020

Three questions:
1. Do I have to use thunderbolt 3 displays if a want to add triple displays to a Mac Mini 2020?
2. Is there anything I can do to ensure a Mac Mini doesn't recognize the display when plugged in but the display is set to a different input?
3. What's the max resolution the mini can reasonably push without an external GPU?
