iCloud sharing one apple ID

Hello…. Me, wife and child share a third party email for our app store purchases. We all have different icloud accounts. Is it still best to do it this way or set up family sharing?

We have a ton of purchases tied to the third party and I also dont want to lose any data tied to my icloud…. any suggestions?

I tried changing third party to my icloud email but it wouldnt let me do it.

Apple support was no help.

Guess you could assign the Apple account you have been using for your app purchases to an imaginary fourth family member that you include in your Family sharing group.
