I tried searching for this topic but did not find anything.

I cracked my iPhone screen and took it into the apple store two days later. They said they could replace the screen or the phone for $199. I had them replace the phone. When they handed me the phone I immediately noticed a sharper brighter screen. My brother in law was with me and we compared screens. He also has a 3gs. We turned our brightness the same and turned off auto brightness. Sure enough my screen was way better. We thought it was a new phone battery or something. A week later he brought his iPhone in to the apple store and they replaced it for him for free. We compared screens and mine was still better.

Has anybody else had this happen? We took pictures but I don't think he uploaded them yet.

I recently had a white 3GS swapped out due to plastic stress cracks, and I noticed that the text on the replacement iPhone's screen seems a bit sharper (fonts not quite as "blurred"), but no difference in brightness.

The ones they swap out in-store tends to be a refurb using returned iPhone parts, so I can't really vouch for quality since it's a mixed bag.
