im furious
had my phone on my lap while i was getting the car and it dropped on concrete and shattered the whole screen. anyone know of anything i can do to get it fixed? i know applecare doesnt cover anything right? people at the gas station thought i was insane cuz i was just cursing at myself qp3ijefklsmvhjupqiekls;a

Even though apple care doesn't cover it, I do believe apple do replace screen for about $75 or so. Don't quote me on that though. All I know is that they do replace it for a fee.

75 dollars... it is almost half of the full price. apples should give better customer-care.

It is NOT almost half of the full price. You cannot just walk into an AT&T store and buy an iphone for $200 unless you sign a new 2 years contract. It's around $600 on ebay.

There are 3 tiers to the pricing.

Tier 1 - $199 or $299 (If you are adding a line, eligible for upgrade or new customer pricing)

Tier 2 - $399 or $499 (If you are not eligible for upgrade)

Tier 3 - More expensive (Buying the phone at full retail with no contract, I'm not allowed to say the price but it's expensive as heck and you don't have this option yet anyways)

So if you crack your screen you would be paying tier 2 for your new iPhone 3G, which isn't twice as much as $75 :)

The phone costs almost 500 dollars, even though you may have paid less with a new contract or something. If the screen costs $75 to repair, that's not nearly 1/2 the price of the phone.

Now if that's too much for someone to pay to repair the phone THEY BROKE... that they should simply take better care of their iphones. Or they could go buy a cheap nokia or lg phone, and put insurance on it. Otherwise, no complaining will be accepted. :apple:

apple does not fix screens
its $299 for a 16GB black replacement.

Hmm... at least take it into Apple to see what they can do.

And can you post some pics please? I'm curious as to what it looks like.

again, apple wont do anything except replace it for $299
theres a screen protector over it thats why theres air bubbles
the glass is loose under there

I'm sorry for your loss. I did the same thing with 1G and only got some scratches on back. Apple willask you to turn in your original and pay $199+Tax. No screen specific service.

This is what happened with my first 3G

$200 + tax for a replacement 16gb, with a new 12 month warranty.

well mine's was within the first 30 days

perhaps that has something to do with the reduction in Price from 300 dollars down to 200 + tax

good luck

i just called again
they said 400 now
are u kidding me i got 10 different answers in 2 days

i bought it from AT&T and they suck

I can't even tell you how glad I am that I bought mine from the apple store. I purchased 2 of them, one for me and one for my girlfriend. Originally we ordered one from At&t but we cancelled it once we got them from Apple. Shipping was taking forever.

does the touch screen work or is just the glass broken? if its just the glass and you think you can handle it, you could replace it your self for about 20 bucks.
