I haven't seen any other posts about this issue, so I'm assuming it is just me, but hoping others might have an idea to help.

I upgraded to OS 3 on my iPhone 3G, then updated my Shazam to the latest version (supposedly tested to work on 3.0), restarted the phone multiple times. But every time I open shazam all of my previous tags are screwed up.

1) Notice the dates (which range from 2000 - 2065 even though all tags were done in the last year) and there is no more artist, just random numbers:

2) when tapping to open an individual tag, where you should normally see the details for that tag, this comes up for every one of them:

3) Finally, when trying to tag a new song it works properly and displays the proper information. But once you go back to the list of all tags it is displayed as "Unrecognized Tag" and all the tag details are gone.

I wrote to shazam through their contact form but no word back. Any ideas would be appreciated. And I don't think deleting shazam and re-installing it is what I want to do as I assume doing so would remove all the data/tags I've got saved. The data is clearly there, it just needs to be accessed properly as it once was.

Bingo

Joined just to post on this...

My install of Shazam is hosed as well.
Same incidents you wrote about however, my dates are correct.

I am using a 1st Gen iPhone with 3.0 and Shazam 1.7
After noticing these problems I went ahead and shut down the phone and rebooted to no avail.

The app also has this nice problem.
When you press tag now, it will listen properly.
But, the app will always crash and then when you go back into it, the correct song name and artist are there but there is no artwork.

And tapping on the song to see more information goes to a screen like the one you posted in your second image.

There is another guy who is having this problem on the TUAW site.

No answers so far.

Yes, could do a delete and reinstall losing all previously tagged songs. I too have contacted their support team and they told me the could send me a list of my tagged songs. However, until I get that list I would not think of deleting the app. Just wish the problem could be explained or fixed. I don't want to lose my tagged info.

Shazam just got an update this morning for 3.0 software. So this wasn't working for others either.

I opened the app store and looked for updates, shows none.
Search for the app directly, shows I have the current version 1.7 (iPhone OS 3.0 tested)

So...

Glad i'm not alone here. i went back and looked at more recent reviews in the app store and others are also having some issues. I also just checked for a new release, but there is none. 1.7 is the most recent and the version i have.

i'm guessing with more and more people having issues they will get a fix out soon. but until then i'll be using Midomi, which i have been more and more impressed with anyway.

I must have spoken too soon. I just got back from vacation and wasn’t running the newest version of Shazam, saw the (3.0 tested) next to it in iTunes where it was telling me there was an update and thought this was the fix to what you guys were posting about.

For some reason, shazam won't tag a song for me, when I start the tagging process, as soon as it it done, the program will quit. I can still see all of my tags but now it won't tag any new songs. So I have a feeling, or at least I am hoping that a 3.0 update will be here sooner then later.

Unfortunately the current version (1.7) is the 3.0 version. And yes Rhett, the same happens for me, the crash right after listening/sending/analyzing.

I have renewed my conversation with the devs for Shazam and will, hopefully, hear something back soon.

I submitted the issue to their devs. I also linked to this thread. If you are having this problem please post so they see the necessity. Thanks!

Received a response from Shazam devs. They were able to send me a list of my tagged songs from my phone. Once I got that, I deleted and reinstalled the app. Things seem to be working well now. I was able to successfully tag a song without crashing. The new features, twitter the song and location-based tagging, both completed successfully.

Took a little while, but thank you Shazam devs.

I've also been having the same problem as described in this thread. How do I contact the developers so they can send me a list of my tagged songs? I tried http://www.shazam.com/music/web/contactus.html. It took about a half dozen tries before the system would accept my submission, and I have little confidence that my message will be read or will actually reach the developers.

Yes, I have this same issue. Please let us know the steps to contacting the Software Developer and get this resolved?

Instant crash with V1.7 and OS 3.0

Even after several attempts doing the power cycle restart as described in the FAQ, I still encounter the problem that my Shazam 1.7 won't startup anymore. It starts but then it quits.

I just upgraded my Iphone 3G from OS 2.2.1 to OS 3.0
After this I tried to start Shazam, but with the same problem. I was hoping for a Shazam upgrade for OS 3.0 to be available, hoping that my current version (1.6) probably has incompatibility issues since OS 3.0

So I checked the appstore and YES there it was, V.1.7 (tested OS 3.0)
I installed it. Same problem. :(
Several restarts and so called 'power cycles', but no success with starting Shazam 1.7 (I cannot use it, I cannot even see my old tags)

I also wrote them an email. You can do this via the appstore and search for Shazam. You've already installed Shazam I know that, but here you'll find a direct link to their support email.
Or manually:

It's SOOO good to hear some of you actually got feedback from the developers AND the fact that they send you your tag history!
That means there's hope! I was already starting to get worried, thought being the only one having troubles after upgrading to OS 3.0 and so ShazamV1.7.

Maybe it would be handy if they put this tag history online. Then I would uninstall the app immediately and download my history.

Yeah why not for everybody, with login, password, import/export and share whole or partly taghistory options. How cool would it be to explore tagged music from others who have (for example) more than 5 similar tags compared to your taghistory and so personally calculated become visible in (for example) 'Recommended Songs'

I should write them another email :D

For me it became such an indispensable tool, I sort of felt bad about writing them with the news it doesn´t work, as my first approach to the developers which I still own so many compliments !

... as long as they --at least-- still have my taghistory, then patience is all I need.
