As I said in another thread, I ordered an iMac and iPod which shipped about a week after.
Since Tuesday the tracking page has said "Shipment Delayed" with the carrier details both saying "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly".

I thought this was just a fluke for a day but since it has gone over a couple I have started to worry. Could this somehow be my fault and is there anything I can do?

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it anything to worry about?
Thanks in advance.

Why not call Apple and ask them?
I'm not in a position to phone them, unfortunately, just at the moment and I'm not sure whether I'll get time to today.
I was hoping that asking here may resolve this matter or give me a better idea of what to do when I can phone them.

All we can do is speculate though. Much better if you go to those that know for sure.

Do the live chat thing on the Apple website. They'd be able to tell you.

Perhaps you're right and I'll just have to wait and phone or use the live chat when I see it available.
The main point of this topic is to see if anyone else has had the same experience and what the cause was. Thanks anyway.

Try to find out who the delivery company is and check their own tracking website. I find Apple's tracking lags behind the actual delivery providers.

Apple's site actually refers me to "bridge-point.com".

I've got the same thing with my mini. Also changed on Tuesday.

It was already shipped out, so I doubt it's anything to do with Apple.

I've got a delay too (iMac). Strange thing is whilst speaking to the applecare representative and questioning him why this replacement BTO was coming out of China when the last came out of CZ he mentioned that he had noticed this too and that whilst I'd been on hold he'd asked the question. He then went on to mention that it was due to an update in the range  I wonder if we are going to see some spec changes.

Might be because of Leopard, I guess. But that wouldn't explain why it had been marked as "shipped" already (which I assume means it left Apple).

Luckily I was able to phone tonight! :)
They said that they can't see a reason for the delay because as far as they can see, everything on their end and mine is fine.

It is encouraging to see that my shipment's not the only one, at least!

i had the exact sqame problem, not with an imac but it said "in transit to final destination" i called the shipping company and they said that they stopped by when i wasnt home. my guess is they dont wanna leave your $1,200 dollar iMac on your doorstep for anyone to take while they are still liable

Actually it says the same for my order but it doesn't list a phone number or anything. I didn't get anything through the door about it either so I don't think that they attempted to deliver it.
Just in case, do you have the number to call?

EDIT: Good ol' Google:
Well, I called Apple yesterday and apparently an entirely planeload of macs is stuck in Amsterdam (having already arrived from China) because of some kind of customs screwup, which they hope to have fixed in a few days. The chap on the phone said that he thought most orders shouldn't be delayed because the plane itself arrived ahead of schedule.

Maybe there's hope after all!
I found a thread where people had an eerily similar experience down to the same items, order date, shipment and ETA and that was one of the replies.

Same thing here... I ordered an iMac and an iPod on Oct. 26th. They were shipped on Nov. 3rd. Current delivery status was changed to "In Transit to Customer - Shipment Delayed" on Nov. 6th. Carrier tracking number is still unassigned: my status page on the Apple website says "details to be updated shortly", but it's been saying that for the last 6 days... Apple store representatives say my order is still "somewhere between China and Europe", however my iMac should get to my house by Nov. 13th (I highly doubt that).
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Sounds like the customs mixup might be true, since we all ordered around the same time (Oct. 23rd for me, but it took a few days for the payment to go through).

I just rang apple and I get the same story about being stuck in the Czech about custom papers or something. Apparently they have released all the imacs and the imacs should start moving tonight or tomorrow.

The shipping status should be updated by tomorrow.
Well if this is true it looks as if it'll all be OK soon enough. :)
Pity it's the weekend though; I wonder how much progress there can be then.

I got an email from Apple stating there had been some delay, but the mini should be delivered on the 14th (instead of the 12th).
