Shipping 24" iMac - Best Method (original packaging gone)

Hi, I'm planning on selling my 24" iMac soon and I'm trying to figure out what would be the best method to ship this appropriately. Would it be recommended to remove the foot/support stand of an iMac for shipping purposes, or would it be best to leave it on while shipped to it's destination? Anyone experienced in this area? I no longer have the original packaging, something to keep in mind (d'oh).

I mean, in my mind I guess there would be benefit to it, but maybe I'm overlooking something here.

Once i remove the stand, the next owner should be able to place it on just fine right? I believe when i received this imac, back in early/mid 2009, that the stand did not come attached and i had to apply it in, so it should be fine?

Also, any specific methods i should keep in mind for shipping?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just wanna make sure nothing happens to the iMac. Thx.

Pay for the Insurance so if it is damaged you can get a new one.
Put fragile stickers on it.
wrap it very well. Use Bubble wrap if you can find it.
DO NOT SHIP IT UPS

My used cowboom.com iMac 24 arrived in a huge box with nothing but 12-18" large bubble wrap around the entire iMac. It looked like a huge ball of bubble wrap. It took forever to get it out since they taped the bubble wrap quite thoroughly.

I get a lot of shipments from UPS, Fedex and USPS. Most of my iMac's come wrapped in bubble wrap and with a piece of cardboard in front of the LCD as extra protection. USPS has got to be the worst carrier since on several occasions I have gotten iMac's delivered in a puddle of water, thank god the cardboard was the only damage.

UPS isn't bad and Fedex is OK but they will take off for the slightest weather delay where UPS has delivered when Fedex says they couldn't get there. If you sell the iMac for over 1K UPS will take extra care not to damage the item however if it's under 1K those Fragile stickers mean nothing to them. Just insure it for what it's worth or make sure the buyer does at least.

Edit: DO NOT USE PACKING PEANUTS, I wish I could send them all back to the people that ship them to me and open them in their bedrooms while they are at work.
