When I bought my i5 quad iMac last week it was shipped by UPS. They tried to come on Friday but I wasn't in, and the next day they could deliver was Monday.. I don't think they deliver on Saturdays unfortunately, at least not in my neck of the woods (London). I'm not sure whether the i7 chip is built to order in China or Ireland for the UK market, I guess China due to the longer shipping time.
And yes.. I did buy an iMac last week the day before the rumour mill hotted up, but will be exchanging for a new one! Trying to decide whether I can afford to go all the way to an i7 though, and whether it's worth it for the hyperthreading technology?
When I placed the order over the phone (I was due a discount for problems with my previous iMac order), the sales agent told me that my machine would be built in Ireland .... don't quote me on it but that's what he said
I find it kinda annoying that the i5 quad is the only iMac now that doesn't have hyperthreading. I'm still deciding, I'm not sure how much the i7 will help me over the i5.. I need the computer for Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash, bit of Final Cut Pro and general internet/word/excel stuff. I don't know if any of the programmes I listed would be any faster with hyperthreading, or if they could use it in the future? I'm not a gamer and I don't do any hardcore encoding stuff or make feature films, but who knows what I might get upto in the next couple of years!
What do you reckon?Well, having owned 4 Macs since I switched over 6 years ago from "the dark side", my experience is to always go with the highest CPU you can afford and never buy the RAM from Apple, but buy from a 3rd party supplier. Like you, I will be doing the same tasks as you, but also video editing and using handbrake, so that's where the i7 comes into its forté. Then again, if applications come out later that supports hyperthreading, then you've future proofed yourself. I'll be upgrading from a 2008 MBP 15" 2.5Ghz and will be pushing the button tonight! Standard 27" spec with i7, plus the magic trackpad and battery charger, plus the printer rebate (why not?)

Do you know in which video editing programmes will hyperthreading help? And don't shoot me, but I haven't ever used handbrake. Have you seen the new lower prices for the refurbs?
