Aight, I ordered my first iPod last night. Around midnight EST with overnight delivery. Anyway, the 30GB photo states same day shipping. My order status is still "open", shouldn't it have been shipped today? How does Apple shipping work exactly for those who have ordered online.

:)

i ordered my 20gig on the 6th of march.. it still says open.. i dunno... i dont' even know why its taking so long.. it said 5-10 days..

does it normally take this long? should i call and complain? maybe i'll get some freebies out of it :p :D

I ordered mine pretty much the same time (Midnight on a Friday) and it shipped on Sunday afternoon. I think part of the issue is that it is coming from China which is about 12-13 hours ahead of EST. I was actually surprised how fast it shipped because at the time I ordered Apple was stating 3 business days on the 60GB photo plus an additional 5 business days for shipping. I threw engraving in on top of that so I was figuring at minimum a week and a half. I had it in my hand on Tuesday morning less than 80 hours from time of order. This was going to Louisville KY.

Ah, that makes me feel better. Hopefully it'll be shipped by tomorrow or so, just hope I get it by Monday-Tuesday since I opted for overnight. :)

Thanks for the info.

It took me about a week to get mine. As watcher2001 said, it's coming all the way from China.

Hold on tight, it'll come soon. I felt that way when I ordered my mini a few weeks ago.

Enjoy.

On a final note, does FedEx deliver as normal US mail does in the morning or will they come in the afternoon? Asking because no one is at my house from 8-1, and I don't get hom until about 4:30-5:30.

Thanks.

FedEx usually makes home deliveries in the morning/early afternoon (Before 3pm). If you are not home, they will not leave the package. All packages from Apple require a signature. That is why I have all my packages sent to my work. If I were you, I'd call Apple and change your shipping address to your work.

Ah, maybe I should change the shipping method than to the standard 5-day. Hopefully it'd come on Thursday-Saturday then as I have off those days.

I don't have a work addy, I'm a student.

While I am sure that it is FedEx's standard rule to require a signature I do not believe they follow it everywhere. When mine was delivered they just dropped it on my front porch and did not even try to knock to see if I was at home. I am guessing that they figure it is easier to pay out the "Lost Package" claims VS the lost productivity from having their drivers spend the extra 2-6 minutes getting the signature. It may just be the fact that I live in a nice neighborhood with a covered porch but you never know.

Shipping-wise, you guys were right. It was shipped today, coming tomorrow. I talked to my dad however and he said he'll be here all day, so that works out. However, if they do come up with a signature, does it have to be me who signs for it, or any household resident?

When I was living with my parents, I've signed for both my mom and my dad. They just want to know if someone in the household got it.

Enjoy!

They want a signature on file with a name so that if you (the consumer) try to claim that you never received your item then they can come back and so "Well Joe Bob signed for it" It helps relieve them of liability.
