Shooting Video on a 3G iPhone (Not the 3GS)

I thought this was interesting. I have a 3GS but my wife is happy with her 3G. I like the feature of the 3GS that allows us to shoot video something sorely lacking up to this point.

I stumbled upon this app: [app]iVideoCamera[/app] that takes video on the 3G. I downloaded it and tried it out and sure, they could offer more frames per second but you know what? Not too shabby. I can see this being pretty successful with an update (that is promised). Just thought I'd pass it on.

They just reduced the price so it's also a decent deal.

I'm going to compare it to Cycorder, which is what I use at the moment.

You are supposed to be able to shoot video for up to a minute; however, I haven't been able to record anything longer than 11 seconds or so. Anyone else having this problem?

I didn't notice a time limit, but the frame rate seems to be roughly half that of Cycorder. Still, I can't believe that Apple let this in the App Store! Talk about progress!

Try Camcorder. This advertises no time limit recording. The frame rate is roughly the same though. And I didn't notice if it saved to the Camera Roll or not.

These both look like great apps, something I've been waiting for. Can someone explain why the Camcorder app is 0.2 MB and the ivideocamera is 6.4 MB?

Seems like a big difference for apps that perform the same function.

I don't own the Camcorder app so can't speak for it, but can tell you iVideoCamera gives you the option to send your video to a couple of different places.
Perhaps doing so causes the app to be more memory intensive.

It also saves your video within the app before placing it in your camera roll for quick viewing and discarding should you choose to then do so after watching it.
