a short q about the iMac.

i'm just about to buy a 24inch imac with 2.8ghz and 4g ram.

is it likely in the next 2 year to see a imac configuration with more than

2.8ghz and 4mb ram ?

thanks

In the next 2 years? Yes for the CPU, and most likely for the ram. The 4g limit won't change any time soon, but I'm sure you'll see faster CPUs before next Christmas.

As a rule, the power tends to double every 18 months to 2 years, so I guess we'll see something like a quad-core 2.8ghz imac with 8gb in 2 years.

Worrying about it is pointless though, because if you wait until then it'll be less than 2 years before the 8-core version with 16gb ;)

if your going to need specs like that in a few years then you might want a mac pro. the max specs right now for the imac i think are going to be quite suffiecient for a long time

YES. I say don't worry about what specs will be 2yrs from now. Get what you need now.
