Yes I put “automations” in quotations marks because someone needs to explain to Apple what an automation is. It doesn’t mean sending me a reminder notification asking me if I want to run it. It means running it automatically so I don’t need to interact with my iPhone. Of course I want to run it. I set it up that way and I enabled it. I’m not asking for a reminder to run it... To think I was excited about this nonsense. Bad enough I need workarounds to get some HomeKit automations to work. FFS... rant over

Making it optional to have confirmatory notifications would be trivial for them to add... why wouldn’t they?

"GPS Inaccuracy Burnt My House Down: iPhone 11 User"

I can see both sides of the coin. Some of the triggers aren't reliable enough.

You REALLY need to do what he said though.
Huh? Ok there pal lol. How do you know I’m not already smiling and having a good day?
I get that you're frustrated, but you do see the double standard in telling others not to tell you how to behave?
No I can’t. Please explain it to me. Thank you in advance.

Ah c’mon. We’re not talking about missile strike coordinates lol. Talking about shutting off WiFi when leaving home and turning it back on when returning. If I need to interact with the “automation” then I don’t need to set it up at all. Things that if they automate only 99% of time, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

When you tell others not to tell you how to act, you are doing to others exactly what you don't want to be done to you.
I still don’t get it.

So what you’re saying is it’s ok for people to tell you what to do? Even strangers on the internet?

If it’s not too much inconvenience for you, please explain further. Thanks again!

They aren't the only actions you can make your automation do, though.

Hopefully if Apple is taking a "safety first" approach, they begin to make automations dependent on the action not the trigger - you're right that there's no reason wifi couldn't turn on/off dependent on location.

Just realized another potential safety issue with having to confirm on the notification to run the automation, especially with location based automations.

I left my house in my car and while I’m driving, I get the notification to run the automation. This requires two taps, one to open the notification then another to tap “run.” I missed it until my first stop. So I guess Apple expects us to pickup our phones while driving to run the location based automations. I wouldn’t mind if it came up in CarPlay like the new Garage Door feature. I could get down with that but that’s not the case.
