For the second time in the 33 days I've had my phone, everything I've added to my phone has disappeared or stopped working. None of my third party apps open and all of my songs and videos are gone. I haven't been able to backup in almost a week, since I was out of town, and the last time I started to backup I had to stop it because I didn't have the time. The last time this happened I lost all of my text messages and pictures (I didn't think to download them to iPhoto since it was 5 am and I was exhausted but wanted to restore my phone so I could use it when I woke up). It didn't tell me until after everything was wiped that the backup I had was corrupted...

I'm concerned that if I backup now that I am having these problems then when I restore from a backup I will still have problems. Or do I even need to restore at all? Oddly enough, both times this has happened it's been around the firmware upgrades. This time the day after, the last time the day before.

I would suggest as full reset and start again. I have had no real problems with backup on a relatively new device. Think also about what apps you really need to restore etc. For the time being, I think discretion is the better part of valour - at least until 2.1 update, maybe..:apple:

I don't care about my apps. They can all be reinstalled. I'm mostly concerned about saving my text conversations. I don't think there is any other way to save them.

na there is now way to save them

I found a few programs for my Mac so I'm going to try those when I get home. I'd rather do a clean install anyway. Everything else is backed up somehow. If it does it again in 3 weeks I'm going to haves to take it in, though.

I don't have any suggestions for back-up stuff, but I too have only had my phone for a month. Today I was updating it on iTunes, and it crashed also. It is very frusturating
