Rocketing through the sky!
I decided to keep my 1.5ghz 12"pb, opting to buy a new PC or iMac (once they upgrade them with a better vid card for windows gaming :) ) instead of a mbp. But one they intel transition is complete, will I still be able to buy batteries for my pb? I plan on keeping it for probably another 2 years (until my apple care runs out) and in that time i imagine the battery I have in it will not be able to fully charge anymore. Will they still sell batteries for my pb in a few years? I am thinking I should buy another battery for it in a few months to have as a backup battery. any thoughts?

I have extra batteriies for my 15" PB, 12" PB, and 12" iBook and they are all un-used as of now. Do brand new batteries go bad if they are stored in the room temp in the original retail box?

It depends. If they're not in use for 6 months or more, you should store them at 50% charge at room temperature. If they're fully charged, you will lose battery capacity over time. If they are empty, they may become so depleted they no longer work. Keeping it in the notebook for a long time is also a bad idea.

So, if you buy one, calibrate and store. Or better, alternate between the two batteries.

I gleaned all of this useful info from here:
