Should I be concerned about this gmail message

I just set up our other mac to retrieve a gmail account with apple mail.

However I have received this alert which I don't remember seeing when I set up a gmail account before.

When I set up the gmail account with apple mail I did not get the option to "enter 587 in the server port" Although I think I was running 10.3.9 at the time and maybe it isn't used with 10.4.2, which is what I've used for the new gmail account.

I selected Use SSL from the advanced box and the port duly became 995 as it was supposed to.

So it all works now but I got this strange message. I didn't get it when I first set up a different gmail account.

What I don't understand is the bit about "server22.hostingbay.net" because the incoming and outgoing servers are supposed to be gmail aren't they? and "server22.hostingbay.net" is the server I use for my website. So this is a bit confusing.

Can anyone help me sort out
1. what does the warning message mean and
2. why is server22.hostingbay even being mentioned.

PS how do you get a picture to show up not as a thumbnail?

I use my Gmail account with Mail, and have never seen that message. Not quite sure what that is . . . Seems like mail is trying to connect to the "hostingbay" server instead of the smtp.gmail.com server. Is this a server from another email account?

I'm running Tiger, so i don't believe that's the problem. Try deleting the account and set it up again.

The previous poster is correct, it sounds like you're connecting to the wrong server.

You may have a setup on your account where you need to use your isp's outgoing server. I have had to use rcn and comcast's before, despite not using their email for incoming. I suggest you try that as well. If you are still having trouble, call your ISP, they may be able to give you their outgoing mail server name so you can jump theirs when gmail won't work.

I just saw that is your website server. Probably you'll need to switch your computer away from using that server as an outgoing one in account settings, it sounds like the same problem I had with my college account after I graduated.

I think it was like this even in Panther, but I'm not 100% sure: In Mail preferences -> Accounts -> <Any account> there's a drop down menu markes Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), if you use that you'll get an option Edit Server list.

There you can look to see if you got any one called smtp.gmail.com (the one you should use with a GMail account) and you can delete that hostingbay server (unless you need it for something else).

Then back in Mail preferences -> Accounts -> <whatever you've called your GMail account> set the Outgoing Mail Server dropdown menu to smtp.gmail.com:<your gmail address>.

Yeah the hostingbay server serves up my mail from my website.

I just realised that the test mail I sent was sent from my website mail address which is served by hostingbay, but...

No I'm still confused. As far as I understand it my test mail went was served by hostingbay.net to gmail and then gmail served it to the computer that gave the warning message.

My ISP account is lists the outgoing mail server in the mail prefs as pop-server.bigpond.net.au and the incoming mail server as mail-hub.bigpond.net.au

My website account lists pop-server.bigpond.net.au also as the outgoing server and the incoming as server22.hostingbay.net as

My gmail account lists gmail for both outgoing and incoming.

Yes I do need the hostingbay.net server as well for my website email so I cant delete it.

Yes this is what has confused me. I do not use and there is no server22.hostingbay.net listed in my drop down menu. So how could I be getting this message?

EDIT: everything is working normally now but I still can't work out how or why I got the warning message
