I ordered my stock ibook the day they came out and I still have not received it. Fedex posted that the estimated delivery was wednesday morning at 10:30, but it never showed up. Later in the day the status on fedex's website changed to this:

Aug 2, 2005 2:44 AM
Int'l shipment release
MEMPHIS, TN

Jul 30, 2005 1:22 AM
Picked up
SHANGHAI CN
Package received after FedEx cutoff

Jul 28, 2005 9:07 PM
At local FedEx facility
SHANGHAI CN

Jul 27, 2005 11:30 PM
At local FedEx facility
SHANGHAI CN

7:03 PM
Package data transmitted to FedEx

What does "Int'l shipment release" involve and how long does it take? It has been like in "release" status for several days now.

You can always call Fed-Ex and see what's going on. I called them when my iBook got sent to the wrong house and they fixed it up.

There have been people who have said their computers were held up in Customs - from my recollection, the location for those in the past has been in Alaska, so I'm not sure what it means when it says Memphis.

Hopefully, by now, this whole discussion is immaterial and you are already playing on your new iBook - yes or no?

Good luck!

WOW!!!

Well, you were right I did get my ibook this morning at 9:30 am. But something even more strange happened... it came with friends: 2 14" stock ibooks and a 12" stock ibook, for a total of 4 ibooks at the price of one. Has this ever happened to anyone before? All of them were addressed to me.

wow simply wow

I would call your banks and CC company and make sure you weren't billed. Then perhaps call apple and see what the deal is.

You should definitely make a call to Apple. Just the polite thing. I'm sure that the shipment will catchup and Apple will bill you for all four. Keep hearing of these mistakes seems funny, most of them are with electric and water bills. I know that if it happened to me it would be a cause of concern. Yours is the first one from Apple that I'm aware.

When you call, say it only came with 1 14'' iBook and 1 12'' :)

You might consider calling Apple about the extra machines. There is a good possibility you would be charged for them. But, there is also the possibility that you won't. Oh, this is gonna be a tough call...

The good person in me says you should tell Apple.

The guy in me who REALLY wants to switch to a Mac finally but is flat broke says you should give one to me. :D

Friends

wow i just ordered a new macbook and my fedex shipping history looks almost exactly the same as yours... i hope mine comes with friends too :D
