Just tried to calibrate my MBP's battery and got to the low warning part. Was about to close the lid but accidently pressed a button waking the laptop again so i wait for the next warning but no luck.

Instead it ran all the way down to zero and shutdown with no warning. and battery capacity has dropped from 87 to 79%. is my SMC/PMU screwed up?

You're not meant to close the lid when you get a warning saying the power is low. You are meant to leave the laptop running and let itself go into sleep mode.

Yeah i did that. sorry if i wasnt clear i did wait for it to go to sleep before closing the lid.

Anyhow its increased to to 85% now. I dont get why Apple sasys calibrate when it seems that battery capacity drops with each calibration. Hmmm...

IT went back to sleep itself again, it should be fine. My battery health went down a few percent after my last calibration, but is going back up again after a bit of use of the comp with battery power. I think it was down to 97%, now it's back up to 99% after only a day or two, and I'm expecting to get back to 100%. Don't know why that is, but I don't see a need to worry.
