Hi, I am new here. I want to know if I should up a new iMacs ram to 1gb. I am going to be doing quite a bit of gaming and stuff like that. It's my first mac so please help me

Absolutely, you should.
I had an Intel iMac at my old job with 512MB for a while. Even when using just using Word, Outlook and Flash it would often pause for 5-10 seconds switching between apps. With 1GB of RAM all pauses disappeared, even when running tons of apps.

Go for it, Gaming can always use the extra RAM.

I think so too. :)

This reminds me, I read a story on tomshardware.com where they showed how having 2GB of RAM makes a noticeable improvement when playing games over a computer with 1GB of RAM.

Sorry, I don't have a link though...
