Hey there so the question is should I buy a ipod touch 6th generation or should I buy a nice used iphone 6 plus or 7 plus?? My wife and I currently both have Iphone Xs Max's, Apple iwatch series 4's, Two Macbooks and a new generation ipad, top that off with Apple TV and bam the house is wired, but something I've been debating for quite some time is what should I do about my automobile music player because I want a dedicated stay in the car device, I don't wanna have to pair my phone or plug it in and do this or that... So I've been tipping back and fourth between a ipod touch or as I said a iphone 6plus or an iPhone 7 plus.. I don't need mobile data as a matter of fact the phone or device doesn't even need to be active, my car produces it's own wifi signal and I have 30GB of high speed a month coming from it...I mainly want this device for Apple music, Pandora, GPS, Google maps etc... So what do you all think? Pros and Cons... Im kinda leaning towards the older larger iphone model for the larger screen etc but I'd like to hear your thoughts!!

The major difference of what you’re considering with the iPod sixth generation versus the iPhone 6s/7, is the longevity of support. The iPod touch would work perfectly for your situation, but the A8 processor {1 GB of Ram} in the iPod touch may only see two years of support left, if that’s important to you, then that’s a consideration.

As to the iPhone 6s/7, both use the A9 and A10 fusion processor respectively {The 4.7 6s & 7 both have 2GB}, which will provide longer support. But essentially they will accomplish the same thing for you, with the iPhone 7 at a higher price point, but iPod touch would likely be your best option, especially if you just want to for a music player, it’s small enough and powerful enough for that task alone. Also, if you search, you can find the sixth GEN iPod touch for approximately $175 to $185-ish new, which is a fairly good price, considering it still a very capable device.

But I do want to indicate the one caveat to the iPod touch, is it is a 4 inch display, so that wouldn’t be exactly ‘user-friendly’ in terms of view-ability, compared to a slightly larger display with the iPhone 6s/7, as that something else that may be a factor.

Honestly if you're gonna mount it just buy an iPhone 5 or 5S with 32 or 64GB. no reason for a newer model really, since the function will be identical. You can find these models for under $100 online
