Hi everyone!!!

I have been wanting to switch to a macintosh for a long time. I am serious gamer and when I saw the specs of the MacBook, I was a bit dissapointed:( (integrated Intel graphics and no expresscard slot)

I guess I can wait a few months till August 7 for the new MacBook Pros with dedicated graphics (SLI probably).

Is it also possible that the new MacBook Pros have the new wirless standard 802.11n, blu ray drives and of course the Core 2 Duo chips. If it is then I will wait out the three months.:)

Otherwise I have to go with the MacBook. Any suggestions

it is impossible for Apple to put SLi in MacBook / MacBook Pro.
Their machines are too sleek and too hot to allow such set up.
Besides, No Macintoshs Are Designed for Hard Core Gammers.

Yes you can install windows. but hey, you only have one windows partition , no more. System, Programs, Games, Page Files, all on same partition. And if you want mac os x to write that partition, you will have to format it as FAT32, which is extremely weak at handeling large files (for many games .dats) and your partition will be soon ( in a week ) fragamented in unsuable form.

Never try to buy a Mac , espcially laptop, for hard core games. MBP does have a x1600, but its downgraded and its not for gaming after all...

stick with windoz laptop/desktop for games.

Thank you EricChunky, BakedBeans and edesignuk.

So, If macs are'nt meant for gaming then how about buying the upcoming Turion 64 X2 based notebooks with hard core graphics cards and then trying to make MAC OS X run on it for using iLife applications.:)

Or is that too far fetched...

None IMO. MB has just launched. Not even 24 hours have passed. There is No chance on world that it`ll be upgraded this Aug at all. If it had a 1.67 CPU then my only guess wud have been a little speed bump at most. But since it already has 1.83/2.0 even that is ruled out. Blu ray is way to expensive for a consumer lappy right now. 802.11n hast been launched yet(AFAIK). Dont expect it this Aug at all. C2D in MBP is a possibility. MB can only dream of having one before Jan.

If you really want a gaming portable Mac. Then I`ll recommend an MBP. But not with yonah at all. Wait for the Merom ones. Hopefully it wont have the heat and whining issues too.

If you leave gaming or other serious pro 3d imaging; then MB is perfect for you. A casual gamer doesnt need to worry though. But definitely it`s not one for serious gamers.

And if a miracle happens and there is an option of dedicated Grafix this Aug(Really highly unlikely IMHO. But then, My name is not Steve Jobs:D ). You`ll still get a x1400 with 64 MB at most. And By no means you can classify x1400 for serious gamers. It`ll be better than GMA. But still it wont satisfy a hardcore gamer like u at all.

Thank you so much Vikas, I was just wondering if the MacBook has enough power to run games like F.E.A.R or NFS Most Wanted (low resolution is not a problem).

I like the Black MB so much :) its so hard to get it off my mind

N...O! NnnnnnnOoooo! Noooo! nnnoooooo! Ne oooo!!!

Doesnt matter how you say it or stretch it out the answer is still the same :)

NO!

Integrated graphics generally suck ass for gaming period. Though I have played Sim2 on integrated graphics and it was playable, but only in the same sense as a football match is still playable when the ground is covered in 3 feet of mud, the ball has been deflated, and the goals are a mile apart and all the players are under a lot of sedation.......

NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!

:) :) :) :)

Thanks MacRumorUser :) for your suggestions !!!

I think I will wait for the MBP till August 07 2006 because I am sure apple would put in a Core 2 Duo Merom processor from intel and probably a faster graphics card. I just so much want to switch.

As for gaming i will retain my 64 bit acer notebook for a while:(
