Hi all,

My macbook pro 13” retina (early 2015), had a battery failure recently. Took it to an authorized service provider, and they’ve suggested a new battery which i’ve accepted.

The battery had around 300 cycles.

What keeps poking me now, is the fact that my charger was shorted about 2 months ago, there was a big ‘boom’ between the charger and the small socket adapter extension thing. You will see on the photos, i found a small metal piece that sneaked it’s way between the mentioned separable parts.

After that i’ve cleaned the black byproduct of the explosion with alcohol ol, hooked up the charger and everything seemed fine.

Now I’m questioning whether its the charger that destroyed the battery, maybe it ‘seemed’ to work after the big bang but actually was secretly destroying the battery :D

Is this possible, should I consider a new charger?

It’s my first post I apologize if I missed any rules.

These photos are after the boom, before I’ve cleaned the parts.

Best to get a new charger to have peace of mind, even though if it still works then it most likely is just fine. Again, for peace.. :D

I'd suggest getting another charger only to be on the safe side.
Just don't buy a brand you one from Apple, you can find these used (original) and in mint/good condition on eBay for around $25-$30 which isn't a big amount.
