Hi everyone,

I bought a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro at the end of last year. I find it really helpful and making my life more productive. However, I tend to travel a lot so I would need to use it in many public spaces. Gradually I developed this anxiety that I might crack my screen anytime against any protruding item or just drop it onto the floor.

With these concerns, I'm thinking about getting a screen protector. But I've heard oppositions mainly from two aspects: 1) Adding a screen protector sacrifices the screen's sensitivity, so if you're a heavy apple pencil user (like me), it would affect your experience 2) The screen protector takes away a certain invisible chemical that is applied to the screen to improve its visuals

Could y'all give me some advice? If a screen protector is absolutely necessary, which brand would you recommend? If not, could you let me know why?

Another question I have is, which brand of screen cleaner should I use for iPad Pro, iPhone and MacBook Pro?

Thanks!

I wouldn’t use any cleaners directly on the naked screen, just a warm wet tissue and soft dry cloth. Because I have glass screen protectors I use disinfectant wet wipes on the glass.

I don’t have that latest model iPad and so can’t speak about sensitivity issues. There are many threads discussing the issue as well as screen protectors in general. I like glass protectors because I use the pencil a lot and they are easier to clean. However, many people who use no protector and use the pencil all day report no issues of scratching.

Can’t tell you a brand but definitely get a screen protector. The glass scratches easily especially if you use the Apple Pencil. Weird how Apple doesn’t mention this.

I have a glass screen protector on my iPad Pro. I have Apple care but I wouldn’t want to get scratches on my screen. The glass screen protectors offer good coverage and are easy to install.

I have the 10.5 inch pro and I’m still able to use my Apple Pencil through the glass screen protector. I don’t have any issues.

Have a 2018 12.9 Pro. Applied a Media Devil Protector since I use the Pen a lot. Works fine. According to the manufacturer it has a 9 on the hardness scale. Since I had a lot of touch issues with a glass protector I really can’t recommend them.
