I have an old pair of AirPods that are due for replacement and was thinking about the AirPods Pro which are on sale at the mo for £180. I realise new AirPods are likely to be announced soon but reckon they will be the around the same price but missing the ANC. Also the AirPods Pro are quite old tech now, being two years old.

Question is, if you were in the market for new AirPods today, what would you do? Buy them for reduced price, or hold off until September event and see what that brings? Other option is to hold off on new AirPod pro models. How much better are they likely to be than current model do you reckon?

I am also thinking about buying the AirPods max but these would be used purely in the house, the pro’s more for our and about.

I have the standard and Pro Airpods. I like the silicone bits on the Pro since they stay in better. Your question is whether any new features may make it worth waiting. That's hard to say since we don't know what the upgrade will feature. If you can get the current Pros at a good price I'd go for them. But if you are willing to wait a few months you may get some cute new features.

I do like the Pros better than the original AirPods. I find them more comfortable, they stay in my ears better, and ANC is a nice feature. I think if you can get them at a discount you'll be very happy with them, but yes you might miss out on a new feature or two if we see Airpods Pros this fall. For what it's worth I think an update to the Pros is unlikely this fall as most rumors point to a refresh of just the Airpods line, but Apple can surprise us at times still.

The question is what kind of new features would you want to see in an update?

Thanks folks, I am guessing they will aim to improve the sound, connection and battery life but who knows. I want ANC and can’t see that coming to the AirPods 3 and don’t want to wait until next year for the updated pros so think that may have answered my question.

now to think if I can justify the AirPods max for use in the house.

That's a really tough decision. I think it depends on how much listening you do at home and whether that listening is critical or casual.

If you don't listen to music a lot at home or when you do listen it's a more passive / casual listening experience you're probably not going to get the most out of them. However, if you're more interested in sitting down in a comfy chair and listening to your music then that is where the AirPod Max will start to provide value over your Pros. Even still though at more than 2x the cost of the Pros it's going to be hard to justify their cost no matter what.

I went with Max for home and Beats Studio Buds for out and about. Better fit and seal with he Buds for me over the Pros.

About a month ago I bought AirPod pros I was having problems with my AirPod 2nd gen
I got the pros off of Amazon for 197 delivered

The upcoming announcement will be AirPod 3 not the pros rumor is next March for AirPod pros 2

Id get the pros now I love them - the anc works so good - when I’m at the gym I feel like there’s only three people in there that’s how good it works

I'm in the same boat but I've been debating what to do for the last month or 2

But like yourself I can get the Pros at a crazy discounted price, I don't think the ones coming out in Sept will replace APP nor will they have ANC so I've now decided to buy them, I can just about get an hour out of my 1st gen AirPods

Went and ordered both the pro’s and the max and loving both of them. The ANC is very impressive, especially on the pro’s given the size. Happy with both of them and so much better now that my OG airpods are dying

So nobody is expecting new AirPods Pro to be released next week?

I am just wondering if I should already order Airpods Pro or wait till next week. I need ANC, but am wondering if Apple may show new Airpods Pro as well.

It's only 4 days away. I'd wait and see. They may change away from the rubber ear plugs. I love this feature so my buying would depend on that.

Hey I am really happy with them thanks. Big improvement to the originals for me, sound and battery life has been great. I ended up buying the pros and the max and truly impressed and happy with both.

The pros are on sale a lot at the moment, I say go for it!
