Should I buy an imac now?

I am thinking of buying an imac but I always have a tenancy to buy computers just before they are upgraded! Are there any imac upgrades due soon?

If you need a computer and want a Mac now is the time to buy. iMac's average an update every 211 days, it's only been 89 days since the last update. I would expect the next update to be in Jan 09 or later.

exactly...but if they update in jan. they would be such small improvements, that it'd be better just to get it now(in fact it could likely only be a price cut)....the next major update will probably be post-wwdc next year when snow leopard/nehalem comes out and apple makes the move to multi-core processors.

I'm now in a tossup of whether to buy a 1 or 2GB of ram...would 2 be enough?

Get it with 1 and buy another gig from a different vendor and fit it yourself.
