I am a backend developer who uses Intellij IDEA ultimate version (for Java development) and Visual
Studio Code(for Node.js) mostly simultaneously. Also, I work with DevOps stuff like Docker and Kubernetes. So, I mostly run docker desktop locally and work on remote Kubernetes cluster but sometimes run the Kubernetes minikube cluster locally. I also use a build
tool called skaffold to build my local changes to the kubernetes cluster.

My current laptop is Dell inspiron i7 7th 16 GB Ram which run on SSD which freezes sometime when I run skaffold (Skaffold is a tool that handles the workflow for building, pushing and deploying your application). I want to avoid the situation with a new mac book. Also, the MacBook is very expensive and limited in my country, so I can’t buy a 32 GB MacBook. I am skeptical that 16 GB RAM might not be enough, so for higher RAM in my price range, I have now the option of m2 24 GB 13 inch MacBook Pro. Do you think it’s a wiser decision or should I buy a 16 GB one m2 pro?

if you have external monitor or plan to use that, get 13”, otherwise better go with MBP 14” as you will be grateful for bigger display for coding. Also you can have 14” M1 as both M1 and M2 have similar performance.
Regarding RAM, I wouldn’t worry too much as Apple silicone has better memory management than intel/windows.
